In Fall of 2016, I took a Game Engines course in which we did a bunch of shader development. The gifs and images you see were created with a single sphere art asset. Everything else was done via shaders. They all turned out decently, but I am very happy with the results of the Sun and Earth.
I am a programmer through and through, and it is frustrating knowing that art is often my biggest struggle. With the use of shaders, I can do art by being a programmer, and I think that is super cool.
