GDD 2150, Spring 2015 was one of the most amazing courses I've ever taken. It was the first time I was given the freedom to pursue my own ideas and my own passions as opposed to being guided down specific genres and styles, as well as being the first time I've ever used Unity3D. Super Yoshi World was a team project in which I was stuck with "one of those" teams. That didn't stop me from producing a game that I had a ton of fun developing, and being very proud to show it to others. I had the rest of my team fill out some documents and create the presentation for the project, but I did all of the development.
Super Yoshi World could be considered a feature playground where I just went into an environment and started developing cool stuff that made that environment better. A little of this here, a little of that there, and lets put this insanly rediculous giant Bullet Bill that one shots you here. Despite this project being a playground, I was able to take all of the resources available to me and design levels that were appropriately tuned and exciting to play. There are only five levels, but each level keeps the players on their toes. |
